The Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society is a charitable organization, whose mission is to preserve Craigdarroch Castle and bring its stories to life. Craigdarroch Castle is a designated National Historic Site with annual visitation of 140,000 and is open year round providing a wide range of visitor services to an international clientele.
Craigdarroch Castle seeks a part time Housekeeper
Housekeepers at Craigdarroch Castle are responsible for the day to day cleaning and presentation of the house, both for visitors and staff alike. As part of your duties you ensure that washroom facilities are clean, tidy, and presentable. You vacuum the carpets, dry mop the hardwood, and dust the furniture and paneling. You may also assist with occasional cleaning of the Museum's period rooms and light maintenance duties around the building and grounds.
Housekeepers must be energetic and outgoing - you work constantly in the public eye and are always willing to provide assistance or to answer a question. You have sound knowledge of housekeeping tasks and equipment and are physically fit.
You are respectful, friendly, and well presented and work well with other members of the team. You are flexible and resourceful, and adapt readily to changes in your environment. You work independently and manage your time efficiently to set and accomplish your goals.
Workdays are Sunday through Thursday with occasional evening shifts during the summer or for special events. Total hours are 25 hours per week. Remuneration is $15.12 per hour and the successful applicant is required to join CUPE Local 3136. Anticipated start date is early September 2017.
